WC1001 Chena: Aurora Snow Coach Tour

 

Hop on a snow coach to drive out in search of the aurora borealis. Far from the light pollution of the city, you’re in a prime location for seeing these colorful curtains of light as they color the star-studded sky. Seek out remote locations where you can watch the luminous spectacle over snowy fields and the evergreen treeline before your early morning return to Fairbanks. Must be 6 years old or older.

WC1002 Chena: Aurora Ice Museum Tour

 

Chena Hot Springs Resort is home to the world’s largest year-round ice museum in the world, the Aurora Ice Museum! It was completed in January 2005 and stays a cool 20 degrees Fahrenheit inside year round. Keeping the museum icy cold in the heat of summer comes from the patented absorption chiller, the first of its kind in the world used for this purpose!

WC1003 Chena: Kennel Tour

 

The Chena Sled Dog Kennel tour is your chance to chat with an experienced musher. Your guide will teach you about the sport, sharing knowledge and answering any questions you may have. You will be introduced to some amazing Alaskan Huskies, learn about this fascinating breed, and tour a working mushing kennel of over 50 dogs. The educational visitor center is a great place to warm up in the cool winter months, or to get a break from the sun during the sunny summer months. You will walk away from this tour with an abundance of dog mushing knowledge. Approix. 40 min.

WC1004 Chena Sled Dog Ride

 

The Chena Sled Dog Kennel offers guests an exciting Alaskan adventure. During the snowy winter months, guests get a truly authentic taste of dog mushing. Our friendly, experienced guides take you gliding along our serene two mile trail, in one of our locally hand built traditional freight sleds which holds up to four persons. Sharing the sled with other guests may be necessary. After the ride, you’ll have a chance to take a photo with these amazing dogs or warm up in our visitor’s center.

WC1005 Chena Ice Fishing 

 

Experience ice fishing and get that Alaskan sub-arctic ice fishing experience! Alaska's winter wonderland, heated shelters, and experienced fishing guides will make this tour your bucket list experience. After pick up from the resort, a short drive to the lake you can watch how we drill holes through 3ft of ice. Next you will get instruction and learn the best ice fishing techniques, maybe even taste the deliciousness of perhaps your own caught fresh fish. Hot drinks are always available as well to keep you energized. This ice fishing tour is perfect for a beginner, the curious to learn something new, and for any level angler. Approx. 3 hours.

WC1006 Chena Snowmobile Tour

 

Take a Guided Snow Machine Tour around the resort! Experienced Tour Guides show you the resort from trails and areas of the resort you haven't seen before. No experience necessary. Tours generally operate during hours of daylight only. Tour times will vary based on sunlight availability.

Marko, FL: We took the snow coach to the top of the mountain! The lights were spectacular up there. By far my favorite place out of three days hunting the Aurora. They were dancing in every direction. It was a feast for the eyes. I would highly recommend you do this if you are at Chena. The young people who were in charge of this tour were great. Got the yurt nice and toasty as outside was -20 and a little windy. Hot drinks and snacks were a plus. We had a great time.
