NPL02 Glacier Bay Lodge - Glacier Bay National Park

Glacier Bay Lodge is situated within the pristine wilderness of Glacier Bay National Park in southeastern Alaska. This remote and breathtaking destination offers a unique combination of natural beauty and outdoor adventure. The lodge serves as a gateway to the expansive Glacier Bay National Park, providing visitors with comfortable accommodations amid the rugged Alaskan landscape. The lodge itself is perched on the edge of Bartlett Cove, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers. It features a range of amenities, including cozy rooms, a restaurant serving local cuisine, and a visitor center where guests can learn about the park's ecology, wildlife, and cultural history. The location provides an ideal starting point for exploring the park's diverse ecosystems, from dense forests and coastal habitats to towering glaciers. Glacier Bay National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve, spans over 3.3 million acres of pristine wilderness. The park is renowned for its dynamic landscapes, with tidewater glaciers, fjords, and snow-capped mountains creating a dramatic backdrop. Visitors embark on boat tours or kayak excursions to witness the park's impressive tidewater glaciers, such as the iconic Margerie Glacier. These glaciers are part of the larger Fairweather Range, adding to the park's allure. The park's rich biodiversity includes diverse marine life, such as humpback whales, sea lions, and harbor seals, while on land, brown bears, mountain goats, and bald eagles are frequently spotted. Cultural history is also a significant aspect, with evidence of Tlingit Native American occupation dating back centuries.

Robert, GA: How beautiful Glacier Bay Lodge and the surrounding area is ! So many highlights, it is hard to describe - the scenic flight to Gustavus and seeing so much wildlife on our Glacier Bay Day Cruise. I have never seen so many glaciers before. I can't find enough words to describe it. And I have to come back to the staff: all friendly, all full of good information and advice.
