NLFT01 Fairbanks Northern Lights Viewing Tour

Northern Lights Viewing in Fairbanks ! The most common place to see the aurora is under the famed auroral oval, a several-hundred-mile-wide, doughnut-shaped ring that encircles the earth’s magnetic north pole. The auroral oval encompasses tried-and-true destinations like Chena Hot Springs in the Fairbanks region and Coldfoot in the Brooks Range. During big geomagnetic substorms, the auroral oval stretches southward and the northern lights can be seen flickering above the Alaska Range in places like Denali, Cantwell, Paxson and Tok. Some of the best shows have been even farther south - around Talkeetna, Hatcher Pass and Anchorage - but these events are less common. Join the nightly excursions from Fairbanks to an aurora viewing lodge and to Chena Hot Springs Resort, where an exciting but relaxing range of activities await you. Discover the wondrous sculptures at the local Aurora Ice Museum, then relax in the resort's legendary mineral water baths. Your tour guide will take you to the best places to watch the gorgeous Northern Lights with a warm drink in your hand.

NLFT04 Arctic Circle Aurora Viewing Tour

The polar lights are a phenomenon that takes place all year round. But in summer, when the sun hardly sets or does not set at all, they are practically invisible. This is quite different in winter, when the Northern Lights put on a breathtaking show on dark, clear nights. Although the Aurora Borealis can also be seen in the cities, the best way to see the Northern Lights is far away from towns, especially the area around Fairbanks and the Arctic Circle are considered the strongholds. Join our Arctic Circle tour and experience the famous northern arctic region above the Arctic Circle. We follow the Dalton Highway, which has also become known to us through the "Ice Road Trucker" series, in the direction of the Arctic Circle. During the trip your guide will introduce you to the history of Alaska and the peculiarities of life in Alaska. Enjoy the impressive landscape of Central Alaska, such as the Yukon River, Finger Mountain or the Trans Alaska Pipeline and look out for moose, lynx and foxes that are at home here. Your guided tour includes the overnight in Coldfoot. The hotel is rustic by urban standards, the hotel is clean and each room has a private bath, a luxury in the wilderness. At night admire the natural spectacle of the aurora borealis with its colourful shining veils.

NLFT05 Bettles Lodge Aurora Viewing Tour

Whether you call them Northern Lights or the Aurora Borealis, these dancing ribbons are truly a magical sight. Alaska is undoubtedly one of the best places in the world to enjoy this unique experience, and Bettles Lodge is one of them. Built in 1951, Bettles Lodge is located 35 miles north of the Arctic Circle, halfway between Anchorage and the Arctic north coast of Alaska. Bettles officially has the most clear weather days in the entire state, which means more cloud free nights of opportunity to see the majestic Lights dance in the sky. It located directly under the Auroral Band, the highest aurora activity in the Northern hemisphere. Little to no light pollution makes for great photography opportunities and optimal viewing. The lodge offers two accommodations with modern amenities and a rustic Aurora observation cabin next to a beautiful lake. The cabin is located two miles from the cabins in an area completely free of light pollution. Transport to and from the cabin can be arranged, but guests are also welcome to cross-country ski or snowshoe if they prefer. During the day you can explore the area on snowshoes or cross country skis. Part of the package is a tour through the village of Bettles, evening fires and all the clothing visitors need to brave the cold weather.
